Two Zero Waste Events with National Expert on Waste Reduction and Recycling: Neil Seldman, PhD

 

Neil Seldman, a nationally recognized authority on municipal waste reduction, will be visiting the Capital Region after his very successful presentations in Queensbury last week in order to help the region strategize and plan for waste reduction in the future. Dr. Neil Seldman will speak at two Albany events about reducing municipal waste and converting it into a benefit through reuse, recycling and creating new jobs and businesses. His message is relevant to government officials and decision makers who must address our regional crises in solid waste and recycling
as well as to local scientists, economic development experts, environmentalists, students and the general public.

 

Presentation: How the Capital District can Transition from Landfills & Incineration to Zero Waste

Neil will discuss the history of US waste and recycling, restructuring of recycling, localization of solid waste management systems and related challenges. What do we do now at state level, local level, and private sector? What about zero waste?

 

Workshop​: Creating a Zero-Waste Plan for Albany, Rensselaer and Schenectady Counties

October 15​th​ 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

A workshop for government officials and decision makers, scientists, economic development experts, environmentalists, students and the general public. Neil will review our Solid Waste Management Plans prior to the workshop. He will address key issues in the Albany-Rensselaer-Schenectady County Region.
