Migration Patterns

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) releases yearly data on migration within the United States. This data is derived from changes in individual addresses year-to-year, obtained from tax returns filed with the IRS. From this data migration patterns across the United States emerge, providing insights into both inflows and outflows from states or counties.

CDRPC has analyzed the data to create a dashboard that examines migration patterns between the NYC Counties (New York, Kings, Bronx, Richmond, and Queens County) and the the rest of New York State, both in terms of migration to and from each region. The map is interactive, for more information more select the blue circles.
