Capital District Unemployment Rate Remains Below State, US Averages

Region Unemployment Rates Low; Small Year-to-Year Increase

According to data released today by the New York State Department of Labor, the Capital District continues to see an unemployment rate below both the state and national rates. The unemployment rate for August 2017 was 4.2% which slipped by 0.2 points from August 2016 at 4.0%. Saratoga County had the best unemployment rate for the region at 3.8% and it too experienced a 0.2 point increase over the prior year. Albany County and Rensselaer County also experienced a 0.2 point increase. Schenectady County however, only saw a 0.1 point decrease year over year.
