2025 Capital Region Talent on the Move Report
The Capital District Regional Planning Commission (CDRPC) has released Talent on the Move: Analyzing Job Flows in the Capital Region, a report that examines how workers move into and out of the region, and what those patterns mean for local economic growth across Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, and Schoharie Counties.
Using data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) program and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the report analyzes employment trends, worker migration, and job mobility by age, education, and industry.
The findings highlight that while most job changes occur within New York State, the Capital Region continues to attract and retain a skilled workforce, particularly among prime working-age adults. The report also identifies health care and professional services as key sectors driving net workforce gains in 2023.
