CDRPC’s Rocky Ferraro Presented with Nonprofit Executive Leadership Award

CDRPC’s Executive Director Rocky Ferraro was presented today with the 2015 Nonprofit Executive Leadership Award by the Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council.  Ferraro has been with CDRPC for 30 years, serving as its Executive Director for more than 10 years.  He was one of five individuals and organizations recognized today by the Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council at the River Stone Manor in Glenville.

“He is the voice of the Capital Region as far as planning, census analysis, any type of data that communities need to go forward,” said CDRPC Commissioner Judy Breselor.  “Rocky is the type of person you will allow to lead you.”

“The Capital District Regional Planning Commission was created in 1967 by the four counties, Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties,” said Ferraro.  “Our regional mission was pretty much the oversight of state and federal programs but we have evolved over time into a service-oriented organization.  As we see today, it’s not just about economic, social or environmental issues but the relationship among those three primary areas to prepare a more sustainable community.”

“He has the answers to it all,” Breselor continued.  “He has solid facts on how our population is changing and how we may need to start accommodating for an again population as an example.  It’s not just about us today, it’s about the future and Rocky has a vision for the future.”

The Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council, in association with the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, recognizes the contribution of nonprofit organizations as a vital economic force in the Capital District and having a tremendous impact on the quality of life for all residents. In support of the Council’s mission, the Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council Awards recognize individuals and organizations for exemplary contributions to the vitality of the region’s community.
