CDRPC Honors Todd Fabozzi for 30 Years of Service to the Capital Region!
At its January 21, 2026 Board meeting, the Capital District Regional Planning Commission (CDRPC) formally recognized Todd Fabozzi for 30 years of dedicated service to the Commission and to communities across the Capital Region and Eastern Upstate New York.
Todd joined CDRPC in 1996 and has since played a central role in advancing coordinated regional planning, sustainable development, and technical innovation. Over three decades, his work has helped strengthen alignment across land use, transportation, housing, infrastructure, and climate planning, supporting efficient development patterns, reinvestment in existing communities, and long-term regional resilience.
One of Todd’s most lasting contributions has been the establishment and development of CDRPC’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program. He built the Commission’s foundational spatial data, mapping, and analytical capacity, positioning CDRPC as a trusted technical resource for municipalities, counties, state agencies, and regional partners. These GIS capabilities have supported informed decision-making in land use planning, transportation systems, infrastructure investment, and climate resilience initiatives throughout the region.
Todd currently serves as CDRPC’s Director of Sustainability, where he coordinates the Climate Smart Communities (CSC) and Clean Energy Communities (CEC) programs for municipalities within the CDRPC planning area and across Eastern Upstate New York. In this role, he provides leadership, technical assistance, and program coordination to help local governments advance climate mitigation, adaptation, and clean energy goals.
Under Todd’s leadership, municipalities across Eastern Upstate New York have collectively secured approximately $48 million in Climate Smart Communities grant funding since 2016, along with more than $25 million in combined Clean Energy Communities grants, incentives, and competitive awards. Within the four-county CDRPC planning area alone, municipalities have secured nearly $11 million in CSC funding and more than $5 million in CEC grants and incentives. These outcomes reflect not only successful funding strategies but also sustained capacity-building, inter-municipal cooperation, and equitable access to state resources.
Todd’s career exemplifies the core values of the Capital District Regional Planning Commission: innovation, collaboration, public service, and a strong commitment to a sustainable and resilient regional future. In recognition of his lasting impact, the CDRPC Board adopted Resolution #03-2026 and presented Todd with a formal proclamation and commemorative plaque honoring his 30 years of exemplary service.
