History of DataNews

For over a decade, CDRPC has been committed to providing timely, data-driven insights to inform decision-making across the Capital Region. Since its implementation in 2010, DataNews – originally known as Capital District Data – has evolved to meet the changing needs of our audience while maintaining its core mission: Keeping subscribers up to date with the latest data trends impacting the region.

When first launched, Capital District Data was published in a newspaper or magazine format, focusing on one or two key topics per issue. this early version provided in-depth analysis on specific regional trends, offering expert perspectives in a print-friendly layout. Over time, as digital communication became the norm, we transitioned to an email-based newsletter format, expanding both the scope and accessibility of our publication.

Now known as DataNews, the newsletter has grown to encompass a broader range of topics, offering a comprehensive look at the latest regional data in each quarterly release. While its format has evolved, its purpose remains unchanged: To deliver expert analysis, explore emerging trends, and provide a deeper understanding of the forces shaping the Capital Region. In a world dominated by surface-level soundbites, DataNews continues to offer a nuanced perspective grounded in CDRPC’s strong background in data dissemination and regional planning expertise.

Through DataNews, CDRPC remains dedicated to equipping our readers with meaningful insights, ensuring that policymakers, businesses, and community leaders have the data they need to make informed decisions for the future of the Capital Region.
