Capital Region Climate Action Plan
CDRPC is developing a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP) for the Capital Region. The plan is funded by the US EPA as part of the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant program. The CCAP will provide the Capital Region with an actionable roadmap for voluntary climate action. It will include GHG inventory, near-term and long-term GHG goals and projections, and a broad range of GHG reduction measures across all economic sectors. The plan will provide a framework to continue to collaborate regionally, share information among participants, and work together to implement the GHG mitigation measures included in the CCAP.
The Capital Region Climate Action Collaborative
The CCAP was developed through a newly formed Climate Action Collaborative, which is a voluntary assembly of Capital Region climate leaders undertaking climate action. It includes regional agencies, partner organizations, and municipal climate action leaders covering Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga, Rensselaer, Columbia, Warren, Washington, and Greene Counties. The regional and municipal stakeholders who participated in advisory groups and/or provided feedback to the plan, along with the communities that achieve Clean Energy Communities designation or Climate Smart Communities certification, comprise the Capital Region Climate Action Collaborative.
The Collaborative currently includes:

Capital Region Climate Action Portal
To facilitate municipal and public awareness, a Capital Region Climate Action Portal was developed as a companion to the CCAP. The Portal includes a GHG Inventory Dashboard, GHG Mitigation Measures, and comprehensive visual and spatial documentation of community and municipal climate action to date. The Portal serves as an online clearinghouse for regional climate action data, tools, support, and ongoing implementation and tracking.
