Capital Region Indicators and US Census Training

The Capital Region Indicators dashboard uses Decennial and ACS census data to show the current conditions of municipalities around the region as well as allows you to compare the change over time for various data sets. The dashboard provides data on six different topics: Economy, Social Welfare, Health, Education, Housing, Transportation, as well as providing an overview and links to other resources. This data, provided in charts and maps, can be easily linked or shared in your applications to help illustrate important points.

CDRPC serves as a connective link between the Census Bureau and the Capital District. The Census Bureau selects partners in an effort to raise awareness and work with communities to help improve the Census. To help improve the Census, CDRPC shares the Census Bureaus proposed Census Tract and Block Group changes with municipalities, who then can make their own suggestions which CDRPC can help translate into GIS. This ensures that data is divided into the most accurate possible tracts and boundaries to ensure that communities are counted correctly.

This tutorial walks users through how to navigate the Capital Region Indicators website and how to use it to help with grant applications. It also dives into how to use the US Census website and how you can find data there to help with grant applications.
